metaPost compatibility with Ventrian 0.6.9

Hi Don,

Scott has changed NewsArticles so that the Summary is no longer required, but the Body is. This isn't a problem initially with metaPost, unless you try to edit an Articles on the DNN site. By default metaPost doesn't create a Body (unless you use Split Post), therefore when you edit online it doesn't update, unless you add some text in the Body.

See here for my post on Ventrian, and Scott's response -http://www.ventrian.com/Support/ProductForums/tabid/118/forumid/4/tpage/1/view/topic/postid/32209/Default.aspx#32210

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

I was out of the office today, so I'm sorry for not replying sooner.

I'll work on a solution to this problem and let you know here as soon as it's ready at Snowcovered.

Thanks for letting us know about this issue and for using metaPost!

Don

Thanks again for bringing this issue up Roger.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

We've uploaded a new version of the module (Professional Edition only for now.  Community Edition to be updated soon) to the patches section of SnowCovered.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do!

Don

[Edited] The Community Edition update to this issue is available now too.

Re: metaPost compatibility with Ventrian 0.6.9

Hi Don,

I think there is an issue with this fix. When I edited one of my existing posts, in which there was no Body. The update apparently went OK, but nothing appeared on my site. I went to edit it on the site, to see if there was something left in the Summary overriding display of the Body, (which is how my blog is set up to display - display Detail:400 if no Summary), and there was nothing showing in the edit box for the Body. Strangely when I went to edit the post again via WLW it still had the text of the post. I've no idea where it got it from (cache maybe), because I couldn't find it in the NewsArticles of NewsArticles_Pages tables (the Summary was blank in NewsArticles, and there was no page in the _Pages table).

Very strange, but worth you checking. For my other posts (4 - I'm just getting started), I split the post and removed the empty paragraph marks automatically inserted before the split (in HTML view), published, then removed the split, and posted again. This seemed to do the job.

Maybe worth trying to replicate...

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger,

I was able to duplicate this issue and have uploaded a fix to Snowcovered.  I really appreciate you taking the time to document this issue with the detail needed to reproduce on my end.

Cheers and thanks again!

Don
