Sorry, I actually meant if you made sure all your blogs have summaries, then there wouldn't be any truncation issues.
At the moment, we haven't really bothered with using summaries as it more effort to write.

By dividing more complicated posts into tabbed regions
Is it or will it be possible for metapost to add an option to place tabs where normally there would be page numbers? For instance with Ventrian News, posting a new page to an existing article would automatically create tabbed content.
Unfortunately, this would require making changes to the Ventrian News Articles module. All I can do with metaPost is govern the content added to the module.
What you can do, though is use tabs within a post rather than creating pages. Here's an example:
