Server Error 0

Modified By Jerry Jansen on 6/12/2008 2:01:05 PM

Don,

Just purchased your metaPost Professional and installed. Trying to setup for the text/html provider. When I try to configure the Windows Live Writer my first problem is that it will not get the theme and I have set the text/html module to cache of 0. Tried your test site and also will not pull down the theme.

Second problem is when I try to open an existing post I get the following error:

The response to the metaWeblog.getRecentPosts method received from the weblog server was invalid:

Blog Server Error - Server Error 0 Occurred

unsupported method called: mt.getPostCategories

I have also tried your test site and I get the same error. Thanks for your help.

Windows Live Writer Ver is 14.0.3913.522

metaPost Ver is 1.2.0

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for posting the details related to your error!  I can see from the WLW version that you're using the CTP of Windows Live Writer which does not maintain backward comptibility in terms of the MetaWeblog APIs.  We'll have to modify metaPost to use the new MovableType XML-RPC methods that are required in the next version of Windows Live Writer.  Since this is a CTP, it's a moving target, but one that we're aware of and we're working on ensuring full compatibility once the final version is released.

Until the final version is released, you'll want to download and install Writer from this location.  I just downloaded the lastest version on a test machine and created a Text/HTML account at the metapost.itcrossing.com, but that doesn't mean that there aren't other factors affecting your ability to configure an account.  If you still have problems after downloading the current live version of WLW, please feel free to contact me direct at (703) 880-3584 or dworthley on Skype or don + itcrossing with the @ sign in the middle.

Thanks!

Don

Re: Server Error 0

My situation is similar. I just installed a fairly new installation of DNN 4.9.0 and installed MetaPost version 01.02.05 professional. When I attempt to connect with Windows Live Writer (Version 2008 Build 12.0.1366.1026 - which I downloaded and reinstalled again today from your link above), I get the error "Server Error 0 Occurred - This feature is currently not implemented."

On my "old" site, I installed your community version and was able to publish using Windows Live Writer to the blog module - so something must have worked correctly. Also, with my new site, it appears to download some items via the style detection just before the above error is displayed.

And, to clear my mind, there are references to "text/html provider" and I may not be understanding this correctly. I am assuming that you are talking about the module builtin into DNN's core called Text/HTML.

Thanks

Dan

Re: Server Error 0

Hi Dan,

When creating your account to connect to the Text/HTML module, did you include an sid parameter in the posting URL?  There are some videos on the product page which walk through the process of creating an account for the Text/HTML provider, but these just show the following:

When creating a WLW account for the Text/HTML provider, if you want to download the styles for the module, you'll need to pass in the moduleID for a temp Text/HTML module on a test page that is visible to the public.  In DNN, you can configure this test page so that it is not visible in the menu, but visible to the general public.  Once you've found the ModuleId for your Text/HTML module, you'll use a URL like the following when you create your WLW account:

http://www.yourdomain.com/metapost.ashx?key=text/html&sid=876

where 876 would be the ModuleId of the test module you've configured.

There may be another issue that you're facing if you're getting the error that says, "This feature is currently not implemented."  This error occurs when trying to create a new entry.  If you're getting this error during the account creation process and you've configured an sid parameter to pass in the ModuleID of your test module, then there's an issue in metaPost that we'll have to help resolve.

Many people receive this error when they try to create a new Text/HTML module using WLW.  This isn't currently supported with metaPost.  We'd love to add this feature, but there are too many unknowns related to creating a Text/HTML module.  We wouldn't know, for example, whether the user wanted to create a new module in an existing page, and if so, which page.  In some cases a user may want to have a new page created.  If that's the case, we wouldn't know where to create the page.  We're working to resolve these issues and are open to your suggestions, but for the time being, the metaPost Text/HTML provider will only support opening and editing exisitng text/html modules to which the account user has edit access.

Please let us know if this does not address your issue and thanks for using metaPost!

Don

Re: Server Error 0

Hello, thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, I included the sid parameter as you described in your video - great tool by the way! I am using http://riverbendbluffs.com/metapost.ashx?key=text/html&sid=385

I have already installed the text/html module, which is where the sid # came from, so I am not trying to create a module on the fly. I've tried using a super user account and a restrictred, but with edit rights user and both get the same results.

When I click on module settings, the URL looks like http://www.riverbendbluffs.com/Information/tabid/55/ctl/Module/ModuleId/385/Default.aspx

I am putting together a simple how-to guide for one of my users and so my last attempt at setting this up so that I can describe how my power users should set this up resulted in an interesting message. Even though it failed with the same error from WLW, the following appeared in the text/html box. It appeared in both the title and the text area.

This is a temporary post that was not deleted. Please delete this manually. (1e4d4e0c-65d3-4e71-a363-1a5e24b03423 - 3bfe001a-32de-4114-a6b4-4005b770f6d7)

As a change of pace, I swithched to and installed the blog module on the same site and it seems to work just fine.

Perhaps I don't undstand your reference to a test page and a temporary text/html module. This is a new site, so I don't feel a strong need for a test page. And, the text/html module is visible to the public. But, why the 'temporary' module?

If it would be helplful, I would be willing to setup a temporary superuser account that you could use to test my site. I'm not sure what other information might be helpful.

Thanks

Dan
