- Ability to create new threads in a forum from within Windows Live Writer
- Ability to respond to existing threads in the forum from within Windows Live Writer
- Ability to edit your own existing entries from Within Windows Live Writer
Creating a New Thread
Creating a new thread in Windows Live Writer is easy. First, make sure you have selected the right Weblog account by clicking the Weblog button on the toolbar
and selecting your account.
Once the account which is connected to the forum where you want to create a new thread, click the New button on the toolbar
At this point, you'll be ready to enter your post as you normally would. Just enter a title and a main body. If you have the Professional Edition, you're free to use any of the features available with the professional edition, like the image expander (which you can use to make image galleries in just minutes with drag and drop) or any of the other Web 2.0 styled publishing features available with the Professional Edition.
Responding to Existing Threads
Responding to an existing thread is initiated in a different way. With an account created for the forum where you would like to respond to new threads, simply click the Open button on the toolbar as follows:
In the window that appears, navigate to the account you've created for the forum you want to manage.
You can see from the image above, that you'll use the Open dialog to select an existing forum post. In step 2, you can select either Posts or Pages. Selecting posts will show the most recent entry in each thread. Selecting pages will show a full list of each of the individual threads grouped by thread and sorted in descending order based on the last date of activity in that thread. Use the Pages option when you want to reply to a specific post or to select one of your own existing posts to edit.
When there is more than one previous post, metaPost will show up to five of the most recent posts for your reference.
When you have finished writing your reply, simply publish as you would any other metaPost entry. Just click the Publish button and you're ready to click the Open dialog and move to your next response!
Editing an Existing Post
If you open a post that you created, the post will be shown differently. This is to allow you to edit your existing posts. Responding to a post you've created will cause just this post to appear in the reference region below the More line. See the image blow:
To edit this post, simply remove the bold line and everything above it all the way up to, but excluding, the title. In the example above, this will leave you with an entry that says, "And yet another reply." At this point, you are free to edit this entry and click Publish to save your changes.
Support
